The insurance company did not want to drastically change the processes
users took to remit payments. Thus, an interface was developed between the client and the
bank’s systems in order for the two organizations to securely transmit data.

Work on this solution
has included fixing support issues left by the previous developer, adding new features,
and re-engineering the application modules that are performing poorly or causing
consistent problems. This application has hundreds of users and is being used daily
to process millions of dollars of financial transactions. Also designed and implemented
a data warehouse that took the summary reporting burden off the transactional database
and sped up previous developer’s reports. Reports that took hours to run to
now run in under one minute without locking the transactional database.

Created an application
that tracked emergency first responders who attended various anti-terrorism courses
nationwide. This application accepted scanned registration data and matched it with
existing people, addresses, and organizations. This application also allowed user-defined
mapping of scanned data utilizing person and address searching with name proximity
and location based result-sets.

We worked with an engineering firm to develop a system which allows the Mississippi Development Authority
to track all communication and activity associated with EGP (Elevation Grant Program)
and SRAP (Small Rental Assistance Program) applications submitted by Mississippi
residents. The system also enforces a workflow so that each step in the application
process is documented and tracked properly. As each step is completed, the system
updates the status of the application so that the appropriate personnel may proceed
accordingly. This system also has robust search functionality so that applications
may be found easily.

Re-designed and enhanced
a public facing, web-based application for a Louisiana government agency. This application
is used by all Louisiana insurance agents to access information from this agency.
The security portal allows insurance agents to securely access and update information
for their associated companies and company users. Agency personnel use the system
to easily grant agents permissions for different roles within various modules in
the system. Enhancements to the portal resulted in eliminating redundant data entry
and allowing for across-system reporting.

Designed the network
infrastructure for an insurance company to stabilize their current systems, increase
system uptime, and secure data. We set up the company’s entire infrastructure
in a Tier3 data center so that all insurance policy information is 100% protected,
even in the instance of a natural disaster. We monitor this company’s network
24x7x365.

The client’s goal was to remove as many policies from its system and
pass them along to its member insurance agencies. A process was developed along with a
Microsoft® SharePoint site used to track this process and automatically remove policies from
the system as of their termination dates. This saves the insurance provider time and frees
up its resources to focus on other goals of the organization.

Prior to the development
of the website, customers could only request information regarding the restaurant
via phone call or fax. We created a website which allows menus and other information
to be accessible online. The website also provides customers with the ability to
input information and send questions directly the restaurant personnel. We also
host this website.

We customized the
look and feel of the website, making the site much more customer-friendly. Insurance
customers may access a plethora of information via an easily navigable site. We
also host this website.

Provided an organization
with a stable, secure, and productive I.T. environment. Set up a completely leased
solution including all equipment, staff, services, and licenses. Our infrastructure
plan allowed the organization to focus its resources on fulfilling the needs of
their member companies and clients without concern over their technical network.

We fully supported
a major “insurer of last resort” during hurricane Gustav in 2008. We
supplied developers, infrastructure specialists, work space, and internet connectivity
to our client throughout the hurricane and its aftermath. As an insurance agency
which insures predominately high-risk areas; our client’s reaction to the
storm was heavily monitored by the public—especially in a post Katrina world.
We provided our client with all of the tools necessary to successfully and efficiently
care for all of their policy holders during this time of distress.

Integrated data from
multiple sources including information provided by the U.S. Coast Guard to track
all maritime vessels traveling in and out of the major ports and landing zones in
Louisiana. This application provides our client with the capability to track the
location and the loading and unloading times of every vessel. The system also interacts
with another device which allows for the reporting of the total tonnage and type
of supplies being shipped in each vessel.

We developed an application
that retrieves scheduling, location, and participant count information for each
training class using a calendar of classes feature. The application uses this information
to create an automated list of supplies that need to be shipped to each class. We
integrated this application with a UPS™ program called UPS Worldship™.
This integration eliminates double-entry of shipping information and enables a more
accurate and efficient process to ship supplies to and from training locations.
Other features of this application are tracking of inventory and maintenance of
supplies.

It allowed engineers
to create formulas with complex iterative calculations using a pool of variables
and flowchart-like logic. Variables and formulas could be added long after the engine
is complete. Variables and calculations can be related in such a way that they update
one another when run. After UML and written specification designs, the client’s
programmers in Chicago were trained on object oriented programming and taught how
to write the application in a classroom setting.

Using this application
on a PDA, facility personnel could view or adjust thermometer settings, lights,
door locks, etc. This application is being used nationally by sales staff for the
environmental control company to demonstrate the programmability of their facility
controls.

Created a screen saver-like
application that allows end users to upload PowerPoint slides, web pages, video,
images, word documents, and PDF files. Users can also create schedules that contain
display order and view times of each included file. Several schedules can co-exist
and the application can be switched from schedule to schedule instantly. The currently
selected schedule runs on plasma displays at the organization.

Designed a custom
learning management database by interviewing over 50 employees, gathering requirements,
and analyzing ten existing data systems. Built a solution database that will meet
requirements and allow consolidation and normalization of all data systems into
one database. The resulting database contained over 145 tables and millions of rows
of data. We designed and built the database, converted the existing data into the
database, and developed functional specifications. Because of the nature of the
project and our development of the specifications, the organization had to bid the
development of a front end application to another vendor. We provided knowledge
transfer to this vendor, project management assistance, and application testing
services once the front end development began.

Developed a data scrubbing
and transfer mechanism that allowed one of our client organizations to interface
with Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The data structures, scrubbing, and
transfer had to be implemented according to DHS standards.

Created an application
that tracks traffic device inventory on all state roads in Louisiana. Included devices
are signals, signs, road striping, traffic cameras, solar panels, message boards,
controller boxes, and containing data such as traffic signal lenses and sign mounting
trusses. This application tracks the devices, work orders against these devices,
maintenance work, and related scheduling and costs. Devices warranties can be compared
to their actual performance in the system, which also allows inspection data to
be recorded.

Designed and developed
a completely custom workflow engine that allows the routing of work requests, engineer
studies, and associated report creation. The engine allows the definition of unlimited
processes. Each process is broken into steps and each step can be assigned to different
people based on location of the work in question. Steps can have associated decisions
and rout work to different future steps based on an answer given in a previous step.
Administrators can view reports telling them how people and teams are performing
based on how long a process remaining on someone’s item list.

Wrote an application
for a real estate firm which purchases and manages various large facilities nationwide
(prisons, nursing homes, student housing, etc.). This application allowed the merging
of financial data from various accounting systems already in use at various facilities
into the central organization’s accounting system. This included chart of
account mappings, data scrubbing on source data, and heavy transactional and batch
processing functionality.
