Revamped Pennington Site Aimed to Maintain Healthier Soldiers
October 27, 2009
[BATON ROUGE, LA October 27, 2009] — Pennington Biomedical Research Center (PBRC) is updating the Army H.E.A.L.T.H.
website which is part of an existing research study for the Department of Defense. I.T. by Design was selected through a bidding
process to complete the modifications required. Redesign of the site started Wednesday, September 30, 2009.
In an effort to maintain healthier soldiers, the Department of Defense enlisted PBRC to develop the Army H.E.A.L.T.H.
website as a tool for this research study. PBRC recruited the Louisiana Army National Guard as a test population. The site is
offered as a free resource to National Guard members and their families for health and fitness information that can be used to aid in
weight loss, prevent weight gain, and to maintain compliance with military regulations. The modifications are aimed to cater to the
members of the Louisiana Army National Guard and include diet and exercise activities specific to this group. Other goals of the
redesign are to make the site easier to use and more aesthetically pleasing. The site will also be designed to increase mobile accessibility.
I.T. by Design was chosen for the redesign because of its several qualifying experiences which include developing web portals for
many different state organizations. Along with its relevant past experience, PBRC selected I.T. by Design also because of its organizational
capability and proposed approach at addressing the needs of the Army H.E.A.L.T.H. website.
