We all want our organizations to be productive. How do we define productivity? Commonly, productivity as individuals, teams, or entire organizations is measured by efficiency and effectiveness.

Simply put, effectiveness is working on the right thing. Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) is effective. They have several web applications online for insurance companies and agents to use. These automated systems are effective at opening communication and collaboration channels with the insurance industry in Louisiana.

However, this effective work was implemented in an inefficient way. Insurance users needed several logins. Each web application had its own authentication model. It was cumbersome for LDI to manage insurance users’ access and permissions to these web applications. LDI decided a more efficient solution was needed and requested proposals for a solution.

LDI awarded this project to I.T. by Design over six competing vendors. Over the past few months, we built and deployed a portal solution that allowed users a single login, easy LDI management of users and permissions, and standardized authentication models across all web applications.

Mike Boutwell, one of the core LDI stakeholders on the project, summarized LDI’s client satisfaction: “I knew we made a good choice on this contract and with every turn you guys have done nothing but show that to be the case. I can’t tell you how incredibly nice it is to come to the end of a contract and have a system be everything I wanted it to be and then some.”
