Control: it’s a word you know, a word you trust. It’s a necessary part of life; it’s the antidote to chaos. Every organization understands that having controls in place to manage processes is essential to success.

Proper controls create accountability and efficiency within an organization. In the I.T. world, controls are processes established to avoid the manipulation of information, to force adherence to policies, and to guarantee the security of an application or network. No organization comprehends the importance or benefits of having controls in place better than an organization anticipating an audit.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) had a revenue-generating program that was not in an adequately auditable condition. At the time, they were tracking revenues collected from roadside logo signs not only manually — but inadequately.

I.T. by Design came to the rescue by developing an application that let DOTD employees easily gather, track, maintain, and report revenues gained from roadside logos. This application not only made the logo sign revenue auditable but also increased their revenues because payments were now tracked properly. I.T. by Design’s application provided DOTD with the controls needed to report accountable information about the tracking of logo sign revenues.
