[BATON ROUGE, LA March 16, 2010] The From the Flames website officially launched today at the www.fromtheflames.net web address.
I.T. by Design, a local technology company, has donated the custom designed website as well as a content management system for the site.
The site is intended to be the centralized hub for information on the effort.
From the Flames came about after the January 1, 2010 fire in the Acadian Perkins Village.
The group is a Baton Rouge-based grassroots effort to raise money for the 60+ local musicians and dance instructors who lost equipment, merchandise, practice space, and for many their livelihood in the fire.
The community has since rallied behind the group and the number of supporters and sponsors continues to grow.
I.T. by Design was among the many supporters there from the start. The local technology company donated a custom-designed website to support and promote From the Flames.
Joy Bruce, an organizer of From the Flames, had this to say about the donation, "Mike Thrower [president of I.T. by Design] was one of the first to offer help after the fire, and we jumped at the chance to work with I.T. by Design.
The website is a crucial part of our efforts to increase community awareness and coordinate relief efforts, and their design is tailored to our needs and easy for us to update frequently."
The new, flame-themed site features the background of From the Flames, a listing of affected bands and performers, a media page with photo albums and news articles,
a calendar where fundraising events will be posted and submitted, and a page dedicated to honor the many friends and supporters of From the Flames.
The content management system will allow leaders of the group to independently update and manage site content quickly and easily.
