[BATON ROUGE, LA January 28, 2010] Support for the From the Flames effort, a local movement to
restore the losses of local bands and a dance studio as a result of the January 1st fire in the
Acadian-Perkins Plaza, is continuing to grow. I.T. by Design has donated its time and services to create
a custom website and implement a content management system to act as a centralized hub for the effort.
A temporary landing page has already been put up at the www.fromtheflames.net web address; however a custom
site with full functionality is expected to be complete within the next month. Joy Bruce, an organizer of
From the Flames, had this to say about the donation, “Mike Thrower [president of I.T. by Design] was one of
the first to offer help after the fire, and we jumped at the chance to work with I.T. by Design. The website is a
crucial part of our efforts to increase community awareness and coordinate relief efforts, and their design is
tailored to our needs and easy for us to update frequently.” Along with centralizing the efforts, the site will
also be used to promote a festival to culminate the fundraising at the end of March. Details on this event are still in the works.
The 4-5-page site will feature a listing of bands affected by the tragic event with a place to make donations, a
media page with photo albums and news articles, logos of major contributors, and a calendar where
fundraising events will be posted and submitted. The donated content management system will allow
leaders of the group to quickly and easily update and manage the site independently.
