Time to Put Internet Explorer 6 to Sleep

Because you can't teach an old dog new tricks, it's about time we grab the shotgun, take Internet Explorer 6 out back and send it to a better place (the Recycle Bin).

For those of you still using Internet Explorer version 6, your days are numbered.  If you've browsed to YouTube lately with that old version, you have seen the message that YouTube will no longer support legacy browsers.

I'm sure that many other large websites will follow suit soon.  The words "IE 6 support" are to web developers and designers as "snake" is to Indiana Jones.  This is because IE 6 follows Javascript and CSS standards about as well as  Darth Vader adheres to the light side of the force.

IE 6 support adds cost and time to web projects because endless amounts of special cases and workarounds needed for the application to function in one version of one browser.  It is a waste of resources and money.

You may not agree, but at least the Twitter community is with me.
