Although I.T. by Design has been in business for almost six years, I have personally been doing professional I.T. work for over 15 years. Wow how time flies....

As experience is gained sometimes you can take yourself or your organization’s strengths for granted. Two common examples are project management and database design. These are two disciplines I have long practiced, and skills I have applied to dozens of projects. But recently I have had a bit of a reminder that the tried and true way I have done things for years are new to some, and add tremendous value to organizations with technical need.

On the corporate side, I.T. by Design has tremendous experience in the education industry. Three of our leaders have been teaching technical courses to adult learners for years. I have been teaching at LSU in DOCE since 2000 personally. One common teaching example we all use is building a sample application to track students, teachers, curriculum, classes, etc. We can build that system in our sleep!

We have leveraged this knowledge outside of the classroom, designing applications to track learning operations and building learning resource centers for our clients. All of this experience has come to a head recently. We looked up and realized we should be in this industry on purpose. Therefore I.T. by Design is officially organizing and launching a distinct Learning Division this summer. This division will house our ongoing training and support our previous learning application work. Additionally, I am excited that we will also begin providing installation, integration, training, and support for the Moodle product.

Moodle (http://www.moodle.org) is a Learning Management System (LMS). Moodle is open-source which means that the code to this system is readily available to anyone wishing to install and use it. That means no ongoing licensing fees for customers who install it. Moodle has a current user-base of over 200 million users in nearly 200 countries and is ported to almost 100 languages. I.T. by Design plans to leverage Moodle and our past experiences in the education industry to offer a special experience for organizations that need learning management services.

So, I.T. by Design is an organization with a great deal of education industry experience and expertise. How about that....
